Premier Forest Products Ltd Named One of Wales' Top 300 Businesses
Premier Forest Products Ltd, one of the UK's leading
Independent Importers and Distributors of Timber & Sheet materials,
has been recognised as one of Wales' leading companies – ranking
181 in The Western Mail's prestigious Top 300 business guide.
The annual list aims to provide an insight into the industry sectors
that are important
to the economy of Wales, and the individual companies
that are driving business growth and thriving in Wales.
Premier has enjoyed phenomenal growth in recent
years, and currently employs 28 staff, having grown by 10 per
cent in the last year, and
by more than 30 per cent since 2002. The company now has a turnover of £28.6 million, earning it this ranking as one of the most
important company's to the Welsh economy.
Formed in 1993 when its founding directors recognised there was a need for an independent importer of timber and timber-based products in Wales, Premier has already won several industry awards and commendations,
including Panel Trader of the Year (TTJ Awards,
2003 and 1998) and
an inclusion within the annual Western Mail Fast Track 50 listings
in 2002.
Premier imports premium Carcassing Timber, Brazilian,
Far Eastern and Chinese Plywood, Russian Softwood, Hard Plywood,
MDF, Chipboard
and Fibreboard. The imports are received at the company's head
office at the Newport Docks, and the firm also has sites at Andover,
Stafford and Worcester.
The company supplies timber and panels to a wide variety of customers,
including shop fitters, furniture and caravan manufacturers, timber
merchants and the construction industry.
Premier is FSC (Forestry Steward
Council) and PEFC (Pan European Forest Certification) certified, and
is a member of The Timber Trade Federation (TTF).
Of this latest accomplishment, Nigel Williams,
one of Premier Forest Products' three Directors, said:
"Making the Western Mail Top 300 Businesses
short-list is a real achievement and milestone for Premier
Forest Products. I believe
our success is down to the quality of the timber we
import and
to the high-calibre experienced staff that we employ. These
combined qualities
ensure that we can deliver to the standards of service that our
clients require,
when they require it."
"Additionally, while our product supply base is similar to that
of our timber competitors, what we've developed over the years
is the ability to deliver bespoke technical solutions, which
means that the way we deliver the raw materials to our clients is tailored specifically to their needs. Our unique approach seems to be paying
off as our business continues to rapidly grow, and our Top 300
ranking is testament to this success. "
